Apparently, I’m unusual because I actually enjoy interviewing people for development jobs. I’m excited about the possibility to bring in new talents, or finding someone who’s area of specialty is exactly what we need. But most people dread interviews. Interviewers are aware of the fact that only a fraction of interviews will turn into an integral part of their team. Interviewees are aware of the fact that they’re being judged and put on display.
In this talk we’ll focus on lessons I’ve learned from both sides of the interview table. The emphasis will primarily be on helping the interviewee do a better job and feel more comfortable when they’re being interviewed. We will NOT be focusing on how to solve the technical challenges of an interview, but rather things that you can do almost regardless of what the interviewer asks you.
